New Bone Grill Predator Mask Collectible!

AvP Merchandise News | February 21, 2012, 10:15:53 PM by Chris P

SideShow Toys have revealed a new Predator mask collectible which thay have named "Bone Grill" - for obvious reasons, as the grill of the Predator mask seems to literally be made up of bones. The mask itself ressembles that of the "Celtic Predator" seen in 2004's AvP Alien vs. Predator film.

Idris Elba Talks Prometheus

Prometheus Movie News | February 16, 2012, 04:14:20 PM by Chris P

Idirs Elba, who plays "Captain Janek" in this summer's Ridley Scott blockbuster Prometheus has spoken with a few media websites preceding the release of his latest film; Ghost Rider - Spirit of Vengeance. The interviews where he mentions Prometheus - as usual, contain no significant spoilers to the film, but shed a little light on what to expect in terms of experience. As with the other cast who have been interviewed Idris Elba lets us fans know about the Alien DNA present in the film, how incredible this film will be and how it will blow your mind... Read on for excerpts.

Regarding his character, Idirs Elba told MTV:

"There's a ship and I fly it. That's it! It doesn't get any more interesting than that," (teasing)

Elba addressing the plot of Prometheus (Also from MTV):

"Ridley allowed us to live in his idea, his dream of what this film is about. Aliens aside, Ridley again creates a new character, a series of characters that are in a crazy predicament," Elba said. "It captures all the great DNA stuff of 'Aliens,' that's all in this film as well. But it's a different film altogether."

Idris Elba addressing the secrecy behind Prometheus via The HuffingtonPost:

"I have to be honest, this particular film -- Twentieth Century Fox and Ridley Scott have been very, very diligent about keeping a lid on it. But, I know exactly why -- because the film depends on that. It needs that. It needs you to not know

Because it's a shocker, isn't it? It's a shocker and the anticipation of a great filmmaker like Ridley Scott is part of the draw. Like, what is he going to do next? What's that about? And the more he cloaks it in, 'There's something I can't tell you yet,' it makes it more intriguing. And anyone that has that shortcut, 'Well, I heard it was this,' it's cheating."

So, there's not a whole lot of new information, but it's still worth a read. From what we keep hearing from the cast, this film is going to be epic. You can catch Prometheus in theatres June 8th, 2012 (North America) or June 1st, 2012 (UK) this summer! Check back for updates.

NECA to Produce Prometheus Toys

Prometheus Movie News | February 12, 2012, 02:53:55 PM by Chris P

It appears NECA has obtained licenses by Fox to create a toy line-up for Ridley Scott's Prometheus film, set for a June 8th release date. According to this article by Bloody-Disgusting.com, NECA has also obtained rights to produce some merchandise for the Alien and Predators franchise. For those collector's out there, get ready!

"While it's still unclear if NECA has anything new to show on the convention floor (other than a ginormous Ivan Drago prototype that I'd kill for), the toy company continues to work its way deep into our hearts with the announcement that they'll be releasing action figures based on Ridley Scott's forthcoming Prometheus, the prequel to Alien arriving in theaters June 8. It'll be nice to venture out of the gross AvP territory that was milked to death -- and it's about timer we'll be able to get our hands on a Space Jockey (and to think, they should be sized correctly). They also revealed that they've extended licenses for classic Alien and Predators, so clear more shelf room (this means it's time to sell those stupid McFarlane Toys airy Tale figures, hear me?)" - Bloody-Disgusting.com

New Aliens Colonial Marines Details

Aliens Colonial Marines News | February 05, 2012, 07:10:32 PM by Chris P

GamerLive.TV have posted up a new preview for Gearbox and Sega's Aliens Colonial Marines. Not a whole lot of new information in the preview, we've highlighted the main points below:

  • No HUD display - ammo counter is displayed on the weapons themselves
  • You have the ability to switch between players in-game to utilize their gear
  • Up to 4-player co-op will be supported for campaign mode
  • We should expect a hands-on experience by this year's E3 at the latest

In other Aliens Colonial Marines news, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford recently had an interview with the PlayStation Blog where he lets us in on some interesting facts about the game. He goes on to mention how the teaser trailers don't reflect how nitty-gritty and realistic the actual gameplay will be. He also went as far to mention how the game will tie into this year's Ridley Scott masterpiece Prometheus! Below is an excerpt from the interview:

PlayStationBlog: "Are you excited to see Prometheus? Will any of the Space Jockey lore hinted at in the film make it into Aliens: Colonial Marines?"

Randy Pitchford: "I’m very excited about Prometheus. 20th Century Fox invited us to read the script and check out production, and ACM’s director, Brian Martel, had a discussion with Ridley Scott about the matter years and years ago so it’s been a really interesting seat for us on this one. A bunch of our guys went out to read the script a while back. I chose to decline because I didn’t want the spoilers — I can’t wait to see the final film! Ridley is such a master storyteller and filmmaker, and I’m thrilled that he’s spending some more time in science fiction. Oh, and I haven’t dodged your real question. Yes, ACM will bring you inside The Derelict on LV-426. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll leave it at that!"

PSB: "Displaying the aliens themselves is a tricky balance between showing too much and showing too little. What’s your philosophy when it comes to showing them in the game?"

RP: It’s been fun for us to dream up the presentations, but we’re not approaching it like no one knows what a xenomorph looks like. We do have some awesome new variants to reveal for the first time, so we try to get value out of those moments for the experience when you’re playing the game.

Read the full interview over at the PlayStation Blog. Aliens Colonial Marines ships out fall 2012 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC systems.
